Secretariat

The Stability Council and its bodies are supported in their work by a secretariat.

The secretariat is run by the head of the relevant directorate in the Federal Ministry of Finance (on behalf of the Federation) together with the secretary of the Finance Minister Conference (on behalf of the Länder).

The secretariat carries out the administrative functions of the Stability Council, for example, writing the minutes of the meetings and publishing the Stability Council’s decisions and discussion documents. Furthermore, the secretariat calculates the key figures for the current budgetary situation and the threshold values for the key figures, which are based on the Länder average.
